The Mandolay Hotel is a testament to all involved with its remarkable transition
The Mandolay has gone from strength to strength and continues to improve at an unbelievable pace. What was once a three star hotel, with no clear vision, is now a tremendous, 4 star establishment with awards from AA , Conde Nast Johansens Guide and Les Routiers. Plus, the most recent from AA, a double rosette awarded to the restaurant. There is no stopping them!
Matthew Milliken, the general manager, has transformed The Mandolay by working closely with staff and contractors, trusting us to deliver the work that will bring his vision to life. Matthew called us the day he started at his new position, we met that afternoon and within 8 days we were on our first of many shoots for the hotel. The Mandolay has now been a loyal client of ours for over 3 years. We love working with the diligent team there and always end up with very positive results from our hardworking days.
Matthew has always spoken highly of what we do and how our work benefits the hotel’s progression. We take great pride in his comments, and customers’ feedback, and do our best to maintain a high level of professionalism whilst continually improving our photographic techniques when working for the hotel. A few months back we shot a brand new bedroom design for Matthew and went to extra lengths to make sure this was a ‘WOW’ shot. We spent more time propping, styling and lighting the room to really make it shine and the results really showed; Matthew posted the image on their Facebook business page and overnight it gained over 100 likes.
Our goal is to attract customers new and engage existing customers. The images we provide must tell a story and echo the hotel’s atmosphere and merits. To make sure this happens we spend time with Matthew before each shoot discussing the latest developments, how they will effect customers and what it is we want the viewer to take away from our work. We have also worked alongside graphic designer Tim Ball to produce leaflets, flyers and brochures for The Mandolay. Tim is highly skilled and incredibly easy to work with. There is no doubt that Tim and Matthew put 100% into everything they do.
The success of such a large project relies on successful collaboration, staff and contractors that understand the vision and a not least a project leader with the ability to delegate and take advice. In this respect the success of The Mandolay Hotel truly lies with Matthew in his industry knowledge, his professionalism and his passion for what he does. Its continuing success now also lies with Head Chef Mark Lawton who is always surpassing our expectations with new and creative ideas. We have most recently been to the hotel to shoot Mark’s new menu and we were very impressed. Mark’s attention to detail is outstanding and his dishes certainly taste as good as they look!
We thoroughly enjoy spending time at The Mandolay and coming up with fresh ways to capturing the style and essence of the hotel. We look forward to seeing what they’ve got in store for the future and look forward even more to photographing it!
